At the end of August 2024, I had the pleasure of capturing Kim & Dirk’s stunning wedding at The White Barn in South Petherton. As a Somerset wedding photographer, I’ve had the privilege of photographing many beautiful celebrations, but this one was truly special.
Meeting the Couple – A Unique International Love Story
first met Kim & Dirk on a crisp winter afternoon earlier this year at their venue. Over a warm coffee, we discussed their exciting plans for the big day. Since they live on a farm in Germany, this was my only opportunity to meet them in person before the wedding. Their visit was a whirlwind trip to meet all their suppliers, ensuring everything was perfectly in place for their UK Somerset wedding.
A Wedding Planned with Love and Dedication
Kim’s sister, Mel, took on the huge responsibility of planning the entire wedding here in the UK—talk about earning serious sister points! Her meticulous planning made the day even more special for Kim & Dirk as they saw all her hard work come to life in the most magical way.
The Morning Preparations – A Calm Start with a Touch of Excitement
I arrived at The White Barn early to capture the final moments of bridal prep. The bridal party stayed in the venue’s charming farmhouse, which was both beautiful and convenient. Kim was surrounded by her close family and children, creating a warm and intimate atmosphere.
The morning began with a light drizzle, but we were confident the weather wouldn’t dampen the day’s joy—or the opportunity for stunning wedding photos. By the afternoon, the sun was shining, giving us the perfect chance to capture breathtaking portraits by the lake, among wildflowers and sunflowers.
Capturing the Love – Emotional and Natural Wedding Photography
This wedding was all about family, love, and raw emotions—exactly the kind of storytelling I love to capture. With a mix of posed portraits and candid moments, we documented the day as it naturally unfolded. The love between Kim & Dirk was so genuine and strong that even I found myself in tears behind the camera!
